The story of free radicals and antioxidants

Biologically relevant molecules of the human body can be exposed to reactive free radicals, generated in our biochemical processes and as a consequence of exposure to environmental factors like pollution. Left to their own devices, these reactive free radicals can cause oxidative stress to cells and tissue. Free radical scavengers, components like antioxidant nutrients, give a little help in protecting our cells from the effects of oxidative stress.
